Abstract

Induction motors play a very important role in the industrial world so they are widely used, this is because the construction of induction motors is very simple and has strong durability, relatively cheap prices and easy maintenance and high efficiency. In an industrial production process, many motors are used, one of which is the Water Pump Motor at PT. Riau Mainstay Pulp and Paper which can be adjusted to the motor rotation speed using a Variable Speed Drive. Variable Speed Drive is changing the voltage from AC to DC and then changing it again to AC according to the frequency requirements needed to carry out the production process. The set speeds are 85%, 80% and 75%. Variations in frequency changes have a very big influence, 2550 RPM, a frequency of 40 Hz produces a speed of 2400 RPM, a frequency of 37.5 Hz produces a speed of 2250 RPM. Likewise, the smaller the frequency given, the smaller the torque and efficiency produced.
