Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) is a tool for controlling the performance of a system as it is widely used in the industrial world. PLC is a programmable logic controller. One of the tools that can be controlled by a PLC is an elevator. Elevator or Elevator is a vertical transportation in a multi-storey building that is used to transport people or goods. Elevators are generally used in high-rise buildings, usually using only stairs or escalators. The way the elevator system works is to accommodate every request or interruption from inside the elevator (passengers/users) or from outside the elevator (prospective passengers) and then do it one by one until all requests are executed. The way this elevator system works uses the Scan algorithm, often also called the Lift algorithm. When going to use the elevator, someone might press a button on each elevator, this causes all elevators to get requests and will execute all requests. PLC is basically a computer specially designed to replace the relay control system. By using PLC, relay-based system design is easier to do and modify. PLC is widely used for industrial process control such as electric power systems, automotive, mining, manufacturing and so on. The author designed a three-story elevator driven by a permanent magnet DC motor. PLC is used to control this permanent magnet DC motor and its supports. When the elevator moves up if there is a request to go down to a smaller floor then the request will be ignored. When the elevator moves down if there is a request to go up on a larger floor then the demand will be ignored.
